International Master Security, Intelligence & Strategic Studies

The IMSISS (International Master Security, Intelligence & Strategic Studies) programme takes an interdisciplinary approach to examine a range of contemporary security challenges related to terrorism, civil war and conflict, mass migration, energy supply security, organised crime and cybersecurity and new technologies.

The degree combines theoretical, applied and empirical knowledge and skills in the study of security on an international mobility structure that takes the students to three different universities across two years to complete their degree.

In the first semester, all students will begin the degree programme at the University of Glasgow, where they focus on intelligence analysis and international security strategies.

For the second semester, students will choose to take either the intelligence, peace-building and terrorism pathway at Dublin City University (Ireland), or the causes of conflicts pathway at the University of Trento (Italy).

The students will spend their third semester at the Charles University Prague (Czechia), where they have to specialise in one of the following themes: strategic and war studies; global and regional security; security, technology and society; or, peace and conflict studies.

The final semester will be spent working on an independent study portfolio that includes a dissertation.
