ASSETs+ project organizes the workshop on the ASSETs+ Strategy for developing skills and competences for the Defence Sector. It will take place in a hybrid format at the University of Bordeaux Talence Campus, on November 24th, 09:00-10:30 CET.
The final ASSETs+ Skills Strategy, enriched with the contributions from this workshop, will be released in 2023, and it is meant to shape the European Commission’s future actions for the sectoral reskilling and upskilling. The main goal of this event is to present the preliminary ASSETs+ Skills Strategy addressing emerging technologies in the Defence sector, to validate the actions and to integrate additional suggestions to improve and finalize it.
The emerging and disruptive trends related to the technological domains of Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Autonomous Vehicle, C4ISTAR and Cybersecurity are calling for the reskilling and upskilling of professionals. This implies on one hand, the design and development of training programmes aligned with current and future technological industrial needs and on Defence industry skills needs and, on the other hand, the setting up of a qualification system based on the best practices in the European Defence industry. Moreover, these technologies allow leveraging on synergies between Defence and Civil sectors, to enhance Europe’s technological edge and support its industrial base in line with the Action plan on synergies between civil, defence and space industries.
Therefore, the scope of the workshop will be twofold:
- Validation and integration of the actions and practices developed with the first iteration of this workshop.
- Rating session about actions’ priorities with reference to the cost and the impact and the joint effects of their implementation.
The expected result is a validated list of actions distributed in the space cost-impact.
A good quality of the results could be achieved only with a strong cooperation among all the stakeholders involved. Therefore, the involvement of external experts, such as policy makers (at European, National and Local levels), SMEs, Standard bodies, workers, and learners, will strength the heterogeneous ASSETs+ Consortium, that includes universities, VET providers, companies, sectoral organizations, and accreditation, certification, qualification and research foundations.
