IRIS²: the new EU Secure Satellite Constellation

Europe’s response to connectivity challenges IRIS2 (Infrastructure for Resilience, Interconnectivity and Security by Satellite) delivers advanced communication for governments and businesses, eliminating connectivity dead zones.
Cybersecurity is important for the space and defence sectors. IRIS2 will improve the cybersecurity of our digital infrastructure. It will constitute a new space-based pillar for a digital, resilient, and safer Europe and will foster European competitiveness and societal progress.
Secure: IRIS2 relies on quantum cryptography through European Quantum Communication Infrastructure (EuroQCI) to enhance cybersecurity
High-speed: It also supports the development of high-speed broadband and seamless connectivity, reducing communication dead zones.
Applications: surveillance, crisis management, the protection of critical infrastructures and mass-market applications such as mobile and fixed broadband satellite access, satellite trunking for B2B services and more.
Dive deeper into IRIS2 and its significance in shaping Europe’s digital future. Learn about its applications, its pivotal role in addressing security concerns, and how it promotes innovation through public-private collaboration.
The Alliance for Strategic Skills addressing Emerging Technologies in Defence (ASSETs+) is an Erasmus+ project built on close collaboration between the Defence Industry, sectoral organizations, Higher Education Institutions, Vocational Education and Training providers and research centres, with 30 partners from 8 countries and a broad ecosystem of stakeholders.
ASSETs+ aims to build a sustainable human resources supply chain for the European Defence Industry, that boosts innovation by both attracting highly-skilled young workers and upskilling its employees. Complementary education & training programmes are addressing the following main technologies: Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, C4ISTAR and Cybersecurity.
