Now available the Guideline for the ASSETs+ Education and Training Programme large scale exploitation
This document presents the final structures of the ASSETs+ Education & Training programmes to be transferred to other organizations emphasizing their trans-sectoral portability and internationalization.
The Defence sector is a rapidly developing and modernising sector. Because of this, it is open to new technologies, which are very often implemented and tested there before other sectors, but with this comes new threats.
It should be pointed out that the Defence sector’s operational domains include air, land, sea, space, and cyber. It is a very broad spectrum where each domain is characterised by certain specific features. This places enormous demands on professionals who need very comprehensive and well-founded knowledge, which thus must be constantly improved and developed. On the one hand, they need to have in-depth knowledge of the fields in which they are directly involved, and, on the other, a general knowledge of all related subjects.
Specific positions in the Defence sector require the ability to have specialised knowledge and skills, which can be acquired during training and courses.
In order to provide these necessary skillsets, 30 ASSETs+ courses have been designed and implemented, featured by interdisciplinarity, internationalization, and their high relevance in teaching today.
Interdisciplinarity in the Educational and Training Programme was achieved by integrating a wide array of disciplines into the curriculum, inviting experts from various fields, and encouraging collaborative, cross-disciplinary learning approaches.
The internationalization of the courses was achieved through European collaborations, inclusion of diverse content, and the use of technology for virtual interactions on the Internet teaching platform.
The courses proposed feature multi-domain versatility and, while they are highly relevant to the Defence sector and its demands, these are not limited to Defense alone.
The topics discussed in the courses are grouped into several key thematic areas: cybersecurity and digital security, drone technology and remote sensing, data analysis and machine learning, industrial and manufacturing processes, systems engineering and technology, project and maintenance management, environmental regulations and circular economy, interdisciplinary and specialised topics.
This report provides a summary of the skills expected from teachers who wish to implement these courses in the future and summarises industry involvement in the design and delivery of the courses, with recommendations about possible ways to enhance future involvements. It also discusses internationalization, and summarises the disciplines involved in the entire Education and Training Programme, while all the courses are described in detail in the appendices.
