5G COMmunications for Peacekeeping And Defence

8 February 2020/in C4ISTAR, European Project, fiches /by Fransisca Tena

The project is bringing the world’s leading 5G vendors and Europe’s strongest defence system integrators together, supported by mobile network operators, research institutes and several niche-technology companies. In a joint effort, the consortium will carry out feasibility studies addressing important use cases, relevant for both peacekeeping and defence applications. Based on study results, a reference architecture for a 5G based robust and resilient multi-dimensional communications system will be designed.

Goal
The objective with the 5G COMPAD project is to evaluate and propose how modern commercial mobile communications technology can support sustained information superiority in the defence domains at scale. 5G offers superior performance, new and improved functionality and life cycle cost advantages over existing systems.
