DESCRIPTION:The 18th European Radar Conference (EuRAD 2021) will be held from the 16th to 18th February 2022 in London\, UK\, in the framework of the European Microwave Week 2021.  \nThis Radar Conference is the major European event for the present status and the future trends in the field of radar research\, technology\, system design and applications. The EuRAD conference will bring together a global network of researchers\, practitioners and institutes working on topics related to the following four areas of focus. \nThe Radar Sub-systems and Phenomenology topic comprises radar electromagnetic phenomenology (including radar cross section) modelling and characterisation\, antenna design (simulation and measurements) including innovations and methods in antenna characterisation\, active or passive phased arrays and transceiver technologies as well as reconfigurable front-ends and sub-systems. \nThe Radar Signal and Data Processing topic aims to attract innovative research contributions on digital beamforming and other multiantenna processing techniques (including MIMO\, multi-static and networked)\, interferometry\, polarimetry\, tomography\, waveform diversity\, detection\, tracking and target localisation\, high-resolution radar signal processing techniques\, classification\, robust multidimensional signal processing techniques and compressive sensing. Submissions are also expected in the use of machine learning\, deep learning and adaptive techniques for radar. \nThe Radar Architecture and Systems topic incorporates the latest development of sensors from the classical designs such as CW\, over-the-horizon\, passive\, noise and polarimetric radar\, up to the most complex and sophisticated architectures\, incorporated in\, for example\, remotely piloted aircraft\, multi-sensor and multifunctional systems\, UWB systems and millimetre-wave and THz radars. New tools for radar simulation and system performance modelling\, model-based design\, as well as new trends in cognitive\, bio-inspired and software defined radars are encompassed. \nThe Radar Applications topic encompasses various domains such as automotive radars\, defence and security\, ground/space radar\, remote sensing\, subsurface and ground penetrating radar\, surveillance\, traffic control\, as well as other radar uses\, related to medical\, industrial\, and system diagnostic applications. Novel applications benefiting from multi-static radar systems\, passive radar\, short range and near-field radars\, bio-medical imaging\, millimetre-wave and THz technology or any other new emerging radar application are also included. A transversal focus is also expected on the re-emerging areas of electronic surveillance and countermeasures for radar applications also in relation to the growth of the internet-of-things.

DESCRIPTION:8th Annual Conference on Computational Science & Computational Intelligence\nComputational Science (CS) is the study of addressing problems that are impossible to solve (or difficult to solve) without computers. CS can be considered to be the bridge between computer science and other sciences. The field is interdisciplinary by nature and includes the use of advanced computing capabilities to understand and solve complex problems. In short\, CS is the science of using computers to do science. \nComputational Intelligence (CI) is the study of computational methods in ways that exhibit intelligence. These methods adapt to changing environments and changing goals. There is a significant overlap between the fields of CI and Artificial Intelligence (AI). However\, there is also a difference: AI techniques often involve top-to-bottom methods (i.e.\, methods to the solutions are imposed from the top) whereas CI techniques often involve bottom-up methods (i.e.\, solutions emerge from unstructured beginnings). An important part of CI includes a set of Nature-inspired computational approaches to address complex problems to which traditional methods are infeasible. \nComputational Science and Computational Intelligence\, both share the same objective: finding solutions to difficult problems. However\, the methods to the solutions are different. The main objective of the CSCI Conference is to facilitate increased opportunities for cross-fertilization across CS and CI. \nThe CSCI Conference is committed to encouraging diversity and eliminating discrimination in both its role as a conference and as a provider of services. DESCRIPTION:Our  partner\, the European Federation for Welding\, Joining and Cutting (EWF)\, organizes the webinar ‘Across the AM Industry: the Required Skills-set by the Different Sectors’\, that will take place online\, on October 22 at 10:00 CEST. Gualtiero Fantoni\, ASSETs+ project coordinator from the University of Pisa\, will be one of the speakers. \nThe substantial growth of Additive Manufacturing is partly attributed to the fact that AM is being utilised across various sectors\, which include Transportation\, Medical and Health\, Energy\, Industry equipment and tooling\, Construction among others. \nIn this context\, there are different AM requirements across various industrial sectors\, impacting the skills requirements and qualifications for professionals from the different sectors. \nTo foster the uptake of AM in various sectors\, the involvement of different sectorial stakeholders in the identification and validation of necessary skills/qualifications is crucial as well as the engagement with different sectorial organizations to allow a sectorial view on skills and qualifications for AM. \nThe webinar will address the perspectives from different sectors towards a detailed understanding of their challenges and needs in AM.  The results from Blueprints projects in the automotive\, defence\, maritime  and construction sectors and their linkage with AM will be showcased. \nEach speaker will present Blueprint project achievements\, and specifically address their experience with Additive Manufacturing: challenges in using AM in their sector\, specific requirements\, the impact of using AM in workers’ qualification and training and other interesting implications.
