Are you going to participate in the ASSETs+ European Defence Challenge III? Don’t miss out on the great tips from the winners of the last edition!
Andreas Wouters and Nathan Prakopetz, the winner team of the ASSETs+ European Defence Challenge II edition, from the Royal Military Academy of Belgium, shared their experiences and gave great recommendations to the students participating in the current edition, during the Launch Event that took place last Monday:
- Team up with someone who has different academic background
- Before you start writing it is important to brainstorm. Think out of the box and be creative
- Link the topic chosen to all different domains from social to engineering sciences
- Ask questions to experts, to your colleagues and also to yourself
Here are some excerpts from their words, which you can also watch in the video below:
“This challenge was a good way to put myself on the map in different European organizations, but also to actually test the different skills learned during my academic career: how to write a paper, how to do a proper research and how to properly analyze a problem and critically think about the solutions.” (Nathan Prakopetz)
“The recognition and the opportunities that were presented are the biggest reward. I’ve had several interviews with big names in the Defence Industry like Rolls Royce, Leonardo, Hensoldt…” (Nathan Prakopetz)
“At the end of the day we all are end users of the military technologies being developed. For a civilian student to be interested in this field just means that they also want to safeguard our European way of living.” (Nathan Prakopetz)
“I wrote a lot of papers during my academic career, but this paper will be the one that I will never forget. The most valuable reward was the appreciation we got afterwards. People were interested in our research paper and this is very motivating.” (Andreas Wouters)
